And then I did a Tesco shop...

From last night's living alone 'win', to tonight's living alone 'fail'. When I ordered 0.3kg of ginger from Tesco online at 63p I just assumed it would be a normal sized lump...whoops! It's actually bigger than both my hands put together.

Sooo....does anyone have any good fresh ginger recipes?? :)

  2. Yup, best thing to do with it is freeze it. :) It could be very handy making lemon and ginger and honey drinks for soothing over winter in front of the fire, in your jimjams :)

  5. It freezes very well and you can grate it from frozen
And......if you have a piece that looks like it has a bud on it cut each side if it so your have a slice about an inch and put it in a pot with the bud just sticking out of the soil it will grow!
Fresh Ginger Tea is nice too - just steep a few slices of ginger in boiling water for about 5 minutes and pout into a nice cup and sip - very refreshing!

  7. I freeze ginger and grate it straight from the freezer. Also means you don't have to peel it because the skin seems to stay on the outside of the grater.

  10. Last year I ordered some christmas crackers for from Tesco online & when they arrived they were the tiny crackers you get to put on the tree! They did look a bit silly when we put them on the table on Christmas day!
    I love online shopping.

  12. Ginger tea is especially amazing if you boil water with lots of grated ginger, lemon and honey - it's my cold/flu tonic for my whole family - lots of vitamin C, antioxidants and all kinds of good stuffs.

You can also make your own chai lattes by boiling slices of ginger with clove and cardamon in milk with a bunch of tea bags for half an hour until it is all foamy and builders-brew strong.

And of course, it's essential for curries! x

  15. As the others say freeze and grate! I'm useless at ordering the right amount of things when you have to guess a weight. I also love it when they make a mistake and send too much, i ordered 0.2kg carrots and ended up with 2.0 kg!
